Johnny Dawkins receives contract extension at UCF

Central Florida rewarded men's basketball coach Johnny Dawkins with a one-year, $1.5 million contract extension, the school announced Thursday.

The Knights went 24-12 in Dawkins' first season. The former Duke star's deal at UCF now runs through 2023.

“It’s a great feeling to know that they believe in what we’re doing as a program and our standard of representing UCF and the surrounding community at the highest level,” Dawkins said in a news release (via WFTV).

Dawkins was hired by UCF after being let go at Stanford. The Knights reached the NIT Final Four last season.

Women’s basketball coach Katie Abrahamson-Henderson also received a one-year extension
