November 23 – Germany’s Bundesliga is proud of its reputation
for fair play when it comes to ticket prices so it was no surprise when
Bayern Munich fans who travelled to Belgium for Wednesday’s Champions
League game against Anderlecht vented their fury after being charged
€100.
The game was briefly suspended when fans threw bundles of fake money
on the pitch in protest and unveiled a banner that read: ‘Is your gr€€d
now satisfied?’
Bayern supporters have regularly protested about the cost of away
tickets including hurling rolls of paper on to the pitch during a match
at Arsenal last March.
A banner at their league match against Augsburg at the weekend ahead
of the Anderlecht fixture showed a Bayern fan being squeezed dry by
Anderlecht board member Michael Verschueren and UEFA president
Aleksander Ceferin.
Many German fans refused to take up their allocation on Wednesday but
those that did made their feelings known even though their club
apparently footed 10% of the ticket price as a gesture.
