Double boost for Chelsea ahead of West Brom clash

Antonio Conte celebrates at Stoke

Premier League champions Chelsea have this afternoon been handed positive injury news ahead of their clash with West Bromwich Albion this weekend.

Form

The two sides are set to go head to head in a Premier League matchup at the Hawthorns on Saturday afternoon, with Chelsea looking to build on their excellent performance versus Manchester United last weekend.
West Brom, meanwhile, are currently in the midst of a dismal run of form, having failed to win any of their last 10 games across all competitions.

Boost

On the injury front for the Blues, all of David Luiz, Gary Cahill and Tiemoue Bakayoko are expected to be fit and available after picking up knocks over the last week, though the main concern for Antonio Conte was the fitness of Eden Hazard.
Winger Hazard picked up a problem over the weekend whilst on international duty with Belgium, and was left out of Roberto Martinez’s Red Devils side for their friendly clash with Japan on Tuesday night.
However, Belgian outlet HLN have today revealed that the decision of Martinez to leave the 26-year-old out was more of a precautionary measure than anything else, with Hazard expected to be available for Chelsea on Saturday.

Crocked

West Brom, meanwhile, have been dealt a blow ahead of the weekend, with news that midfielder James Morrison was forced to undergo surgey on an achilles problem.
Speaking in an interview with the the club’s official website, Baggies director of performance Mark Gillett revealed:
‘We wanted to give it a couple of weeks to see it would settle.’
‘Though he made some progress we thought the time was right to get him ready for the Christmas period.’
‘His Achilles has been grumbling and the international break provided us with the opportunity to address the issue.’
Gillett continued:
‘The procedure was done by a Dutch surgeon in Portugal last Thursday and we are pleased with the results.’
‘James will now be working hard to ensure he is back to full fitness as soon as possible.’
