Everton show interest in two more foreign managers

Despite the news from earlier today that Sam Allardyce is back in the manager picture while Everton continue to lurch from one poor performance to worse and worse, there continue to be more names linked with the club.

The bookmakers might know more (or less) than the press looking at the odds they are placing on who will be the next Toffees manager, and former Chelsea and Tottenham Hotspur boss Andre Villas-Boas is one of the latest to be mentioned.

The Portuguese manager is currently in charge at Chinese club Shanghai SIPG, and after his side lost the Chinese Cup final over the weekend, he refused to comment on his future with SIPG amidst rumours of a move to the Blues.

The Times have confirmed that Everton have made an approach for Villas-Boas -

In between moves for Silva and Allardyce the likes of Andre Villas-Boas, whose future at Shanghai SIGP is uncertain, and Ralf Rangnick, who has just agreed a new contract at RB Leipzig as sporting director, were sounded out.

SIPG were also runners-up in the League this season, despite some huge spending over the summer, picking up Brazilian stars Oscar and Hulk. Per The Echo, here’s what Villas-Boas said yesterday -

“It is not the right time to talk about whether I'm staying or leaving.

“SIPG knows my decision, so will you. But this is not the best time to talk about it.”

Additionally, another name that has come into the picture recently is Benfica manager Rui Vitoria. The Mirror are reporting that he is interested in making the switch to the Premier League, and Everton are interested as well.

Vitoria has been in charge at Benfica for two seasons now, breaking the national domination of Porto and Sporting Lisbon with two League wins and lifting the Portugal Cup as well as the League Cup in that span. In addition, Benfica has won the Super Cup in both those years as well, to make it a rich haul of six trophies.

He has been credited with rebuilding the side despite the big money transfers out of players like Nelson Semedo, Ederson, Victor Lindelof, Goncalo Guedes , Renato Sanches and more.
