FC Barcelona superstar Lionel Messi has explained why he decided to extend his stay at the Camp Nou by four more years.
The Catalan giants confirmed on Saturday that the 30-year-old had put pen-to-paper on a new four-year deal at the club.
The new deal will see Messi remain at the Camp Nou until 2021, while his release clause has been set at €700 million.
“I’m happy to continue with the club, which is my home,” Messi told Barca TV.
“My dream was to finish my career at Barca and we’re moving down that path.
“The objective is to continue achieving things, fill the club’s trophy cabinet and keep making history at Barca.
“We’ve been lucky enough to win so much and I hope there will be more in the future.”
