Big claim
One Swedish legend has claimed the national team is better without Manchester United and former national team star Zlatan Ibrahimovic.Though, his absence from the squad following his international retirement has actually seen a slight upturn in form.
The side gave themselves a shock 1-0 lead in the two-legged tie with Italy in the 2018 World Cup play-off qualifier.
Jakob Johansson’s deflected shot was the only night of the evening which was considered a disaster for Italy.
That means that they will need a big performance against the former world champions in the second leg on Monday.
They will be without their former talisman Ibrahimovic but one Swedish legend in Kurt Hamrinclaims they are better off without him.
“If he’s 100 percent good, it’s okay but when it comes to physical problems it’s almost a burden,” he explained.
“Then Sweden when he is not, is different: it is a team that plays as a team, maybe they can not count on the magic shot but there are eleven players fighting.”
“Ibra is one that focuses the game on itself. Of course, he’s exceptional, but he must be at the top to make the difference.”
Mourinho spotted at Sweden game
While Zlatan Ibrahimovic was in attendance for the game between Sweden and Italy, so was Jose Mourinho. The Manchester United manager was keen to take in some football during the international break and that was the game he chose.
Though, could his presence show more than just a friendly visit to the game?
